Daniel Joseph Baker, 52, of Griffith, passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side at home on Friday, September 16, 2005. Born February 23, 1953, he was the son of Joseph T. Baker and Nellie O. (Warner) Baker. Dan was a retired painter who worked on the Coronado Bridge and USS Nimitz in San Diego, CA; aerospace equipment, battleships, nuclear plants, and many homes. He enjoyed watching Chicago Bears football, auto racing, the Sci-Fi Channel; and he also loved being outdoors fishing and enjoying nature. Dan was a friend to all who knew him. We love you, Dan, and will miss you so much. Surviving to mourn his passing is his mother Nellie Baker of Griffith; siblings C (P) Murray of N. Judson, M(K) Baker of and S Baker; nieces and nephews M, R (N), A (G), J, L, S, K, M, S, A and K; great niece J; many cousins and many dear friends here and in Southern California. He is predeceased by his father Joseph T. Baker and his grandparents. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 10am in the First Christian Church of Griffith, 202 W. Pine St. with Pastor Bill Hallsted officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to the family in Dan's honor. The family entrusted Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with arrangements.
