PAUL A. BERKENMEIER
PARSONS -- Paul A. Berkenmeier, 69, of R. 4, Parsons, died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday, July 23.

He was born April 19, 1917, at Thayer, the son of William and Jennie Hale Berkenmeier. He grew up and attended school in Thayer. Before moving to Parsons, he lived in Erie and Chanute. He farmed until 1946, when he operated a truck line until 1972. Since 1972, he has been semi-retired, farming part-time and raising cattle. He was married to Mildred Clapsaddle on Aug. 24, 1934, at Erie.

Survivors: Wife, of the home; one son, John W. Berkenmeier, Lafayette, La.; one daughter Beth Near, Independence; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery. Visitation is 7:30-8:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the heart fund. Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons is in charge of arrangements.
