Alice Brennan Barthalow, of Sarasota, FL, passed away May 11, 2012 in Sarasota, FL. She was born on September 14, 1927 in Newport News Virginia to Walter George and Cornelia Emma Brennan. She married Millard Otis Barthalow in 1948 and he preceded her in death in 1982. She is survived by one son, George Allan Barthalow.
Mrs. Barthalow worked for the Virginia Employment Commission and attended William and Mary College. She moved to Sarasota, FL in 1966 from Huntsville, AL when her husband retired from the Army. She was Commander of the World War 1 Veterans' Auxiliary, was commander and Adjutant of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 3 and previously a member of Chapter 97 in Sarasota; served as the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary State Chairs of the Hospital Committee and Finance Committee; was Senior Regent and Star Recorder of the Women of the Loyal order of Moose, Gulf Gate/Sarasota; was a member of the Order of Eastern Star; was a member of the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine, SAR-I Court #79 and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles/Sarasota.
Visitation will be held from 6 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday, May 17 at Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 18th at the funeral home with interment following at Sarasota Memorial Park.
