SULPHUR — The funeral for Basil Montgomery Moncrief, 86, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2005, in Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Burial will be in Westlake Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. He died Saturday, May 21, in his residence. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Monday in Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. He was born Dec. 20, 1918, to Rufus and Sarah Moncrief in Longstreet. He retired from Conoco Refinery after 26 years of employment. He was a veteran of the Army, where he served as a staff sergeant.
Survivors include two children, Dixie Klepzig of Moss Bluff and Dwight Moncrief of Pascagoula, Miss. He was grandfather to five children and greatgrandfather to nine children. Words of comfort may be shared with the Moncrief family at www.mem.com.
