Son of Rev. Leander & Louisa Tripp. He was a shoemaker until enlisting in the 10th Maine Regt. INF, Co. F and reenlisting in the 29th Maine Regt. INF. After the Civil War, was a Assist. Assessor in South Carolina. In 1868 enlisted in the U.S. Navy for 3 years. Returned to Maine and read law becoming a lawyer and practicing in Blue Hill, ME. Relocated to Utica, NY, St. Paul, MN and Barnesville, MN. Was visting in New Jersey in 1898 where he died. Was married to Annie D. Hinckley and they had 4 children.
