William Devon Brumley, age 65, of Tilden, Texas, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, in Tilden, Texas.

He is survived by his mother Royce Brumley Stone of Kerrville, daughters, Kimberly Ann Brumley of Corpus Christi, Kathy LaGuardia and husband Kris of Parker, CO, Elizabeth Brumley of Louisville, brother, Bob Brumley and wife Karen of Tomball, as well as his nephew and niece, Shane Brumley of Houston and Melissa Brumley of College Station.

An avid entrepreneur and outdoorsman, Bill's distinguished career included many years as a first class mechanic and general foreman for Brown & Root, Inc., during which time he oversaw the maintenance and operation of all equipment used in the construction of the Corpus Christi Petrochemical Company plant on McKinzie Road in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was featured for his maintenance practices in Texas Contractor magazine.
His subsequent position with Goldston Corporation provided opportunities for Bill to develop an equipment management system resulting in improved inventory practices and reduced operational cost. In 1982, Bill formed Brumley & Brumley, Inc., which for more than 25 years proudly served the construction and industrial community of Corpus Christi.
In the mid-1990s, Bill began his life in McMullen County, Texas, as a hunter and cattleman. Brumley Ranch was Bill's final project, and he built it into a fine Beefmaster cattle breeding operation for which Bill was named McMullen County Conservation Rancher in 2005.

Bill's life of service to the community included decades as a leader in the West Corpus Christi Rotary Club, Adopt-a-School partner for Gibson Elementary School in Corpus Christi, host to the McMullen County 4-H Shooting Sports Club, and annual buyer of McMullen County Livestock Show youth exhibits.
On a more personal level, Bill cherished the opportunity to be a mentor and advisor not only to his own children, but also to the youth of the communities in which he lived.

Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 W. Oaklawn Rd., Pleasanton, Texas, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, June 20, 2010 family to be present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
