Gerald F. Carron, age 90, of Slidell, LA, an avid fan and golfer, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2006, with his family by his side, at the bottom of the ninth inning, with his Cardinals in the lead. Mr. Carron was a resident of Slidell for the last 36 years. He was a veteran on WWII, receiving numerous commendations, including 2 Bronze Stars. He spent his entire career with Sears and Roebuck, retiring as a store manager.
He was the son of the late Harold and Regina Carron. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Carron; and five brothers: Harold, Steve, Leo, Joseph, Morris, and one sister Jeanette Carron. He is survived by his beloved wife, Viola Swann Carron, two sons, Richard and Roger, two granddaughters, Debbie McKee and Roxanne Daughtery, and two great-grandchildren. Honorary family members include the Pumprheys, Navarros, Swanns, and Parettis.
A Mass will be said on Monday, October 23, 2006, at 1:00pm, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Slidell, LA with Father Adrian Hall, officiating. Visitation from 12:00 noon until 1:00pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Care of Louisiana, 770 Gause Blvd. Suite C, Slidell, LA 70458 or Sunshine Village, 2600 Mary Street, Slidell, LA 70458.
