AGED WOMAN KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENT SOUTH OF WEST MILTON FRIDAY
Rites Tuesday For Mrs. Elizabeth Hoke, 78--Husband In Fair Condition At Hospital.
Mrs. Elizabeth Hoke, 78, R.R. 1, Union, was killed about
10 p.m. yesterday when a car driven by her husband ran off the highway and struck a culvert a mile south of West Milton on route 48.
Driver of the car, George Hoke, also 78, of R.R. 1, Union, is in satisfactory conditon at Stouder Memorial hospital suffering from lacerations of the chest and possible chest injuries.
Patrolmen said that Hoke, driving south on route 48, ran off the right side of the road and struck the cement culvert at the intersection of route 48 and the Baker road.Dr. David Brown, acting Miami county coroner, pronounced Mrs. Hoke dead at the accident scene of a crushed chest.
The front end of the Hoke car was virtually demolished
and the motor was pushed back underneath the body of the auto.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hoke will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the West Milton Church of the Brethren, of which she was a member. Rev. Perry Huffaker, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
A native of Miami county, she was born Feb. 8, 1876, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Unias Hess. Surviving are
her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Furlong of Laura and Mrs. Georgia Hampton of Dayton; three brothers, Frank Hess of Pleasant Hill, William Hess of Covington and James Hess of Piqua; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel McClure of West Liberty and Mrs.Emma Faulknor of West Milton; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and seven
great-great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Roy H. Miller funeral home, West Milton, from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and at the church after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
