He was born Jan. 26, 1926, in Walsenburg to Sam Boddy, originally from Cornwall, England, and Elizabeth Jenkins-Boddy, originally from Leadville.
Mr. Boddy served in the U.S. Marine Corps beginning in 1943, serving in World War II in the Pacific and the Korean War. He retired with honors in 1964 attaining the rank of master gunnery sergeant.
He spent the rest of his professional life in education and teaching, acquiring a master's degree in education and a doctorate in mathematics. He retired from teaching in the Colorado school system in 1995.
His hobbies were woodworking, award-winning needlepoint, gardening and fishing.
Mr. Boddy lived on F Street in Salida many years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in both Salida and Florence, a member of the York Rite in Salida and a member of the Pueblo Al Kaly Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S.
Mr. Boddy was preceded in death by his first wife, Alberta; second wife, Gertrude; a brother, John; and a grandson, Robert Allen.
Survivors include his brother Bill Boddy and family of Alexandria, Va.; the family of his late brother, John Boddy; sons, William Robert (Rosemari) Boddy of Salida and Martin John Boddy of Security; stepdaughter, Mildred Vana of Clovis, N.M., and family; and ex-wife and friend, Helen Wukovich of Salida.
