He was born in Gallitzin on Nov. 2, 1900, a son of Charles and Margaret (Seisk) Schilling, and was twice married, first to Dorothy Dugan, who died in 1941, and then to Lenora Smith in 1944 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.
Survivng are his wife, five children, Mrs. Hilda Gearhart and Mrs. Bonnell Smith of Duncansville, Mrs. Regina Reed of Bismarck, N.D., Sylvester, Jr. of Pontiac, Mich., and Mrs. Margaret Hoffman of McConnellsburg; 16 grand-children, seven great-grandchildren and five brothers and sisters, Howard of Monroeville, Eugene of Levittown, Mrs. Mary Soyster of Roaring Spring, Mrs. Evelyn Williams of Altoona and Mrs. Ruth Lanzendorfer of Duncansville.
Mr. Schilling retired in 1965 after 47 years' service with the machine shop of the Penn Central.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.
Friends will be received in the Haller Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow.

SCHILLING—Services for Sylvester Schilling of 319 Nicodemus St., Martinsburg, formerly of Hollidaysburg, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with a white mass in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by the Rev. James Kirkpatrick. Interment in new St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends will be received in the Haller Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday.
