Loretta Clea Briggs Dennis, 68, of Rexburg, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 9, 1935, in Archer, to Elmer E. and Clea May Weekes Briggs. She graduated from Madison High School with the class of 1954. She was a member of the LDS Church. She worked at the Woolworth store in Bakersfield, Calif., where she met James W. Dennis. They were married in Germany while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They traveled with the Air Force, making many friends, until Jim's retirement to Rexburg in 1976. Loretta was a temple ordinance worker at the Swiss Temple from 1971 until 1974, at the Washington D.C. Temple from 1975 to 1976 and at the Idaho Falls Temple from 1977 to 1979. She managed the Viking Motel (now Days Inn) from 1979 to 1984. She enjoyed membership in the Tell A Tale book club and attending performances at the Playmill Theater in West Yellowstone. She enjoyed crocheting and using her skills to create unique and beautiful craft items, for which she was widely known. She enjoyed activities with her children and grandchildren and visiting with her parents and siblings often. Loretta will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, James of Rexburg; children, Jackie (David) Klingler of Rexburg and Luana (Larry) Stewart of St. Anthony; grandchildren, Jacob Klingler and Jerrica Klingler; her mother, Clea Briggs of Archer; siblings, Lynn (Norma) Briggs of Archer, Elaine (Lee) Yokom of Tucson, Ariz., Barbara (George) Hardy of Idaho Falls, Madeline (Ed) Colburn of West Jordan, Utah, Lee (Julie) Briggs of Idaho Falls and Larry (Sonia) Briggs of Archer. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Briggs. Services were held Monday, June 28 at the Rexburg LDS 5th Ward Church.
