Mrs. Eunice Viola Simmons Cook, age 96, widow of Mr. Graham Thomas Cook of Pilot Mountain, NC (Cook School Road Community), passed away Early Saturday morning at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy, NC. Mrs. Cook was born in Surry County to the Late Elzavan and Sophronia Elizabeth Jessup Simmons. She was a homemaker, farmer, and was a member of Stoney Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law: Julia Mae Denny, King NC, Evalina (Jim) Taylor, and Christine (Lindo) Jessup, both of Pilot Mountain, NC; ten grandchildren: Denise (Jim) Berry, LaRee (Brian) Hansel, Durwin (Joy) Denny, Kurwin Denny, Michelle (Terry) Baker, Debbie (Rev. Doug) Brinkley, Robin (Phil) Pickard, Robbie Cook, Lynn Evans, and James Jessup; sixteen great-grandchildren; seven great, great-grandchildren; one sister: Mrs. Irene Adams of Mt. Airy, NC; two Brothers: Glenn Simmons of Mt. Airy and Rommie Simmons of Pilot Mountain, NC.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 14, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Stoney Creek Primitive Baptist Church Old Highway 52 North Pilot Mountain, NC by Elder Jimmy Joyce, Rev. Doug Brinkley and Rev. Barry Clement. Burial will be in the Simmons Family Cemetery, Kermit Lewis Road, Pilot Mountain, NC. The family will receive friends at the Stoney Creek Primitive Baptist Church Sunday Evening from 6 to 8 PM and at other times at the home of Mrs. Cook's daughter, Evalina Cook, Jessup Grove Church Road, Pilot Mountain, NC.
