Information from THE HISTORY OF THE SCHOOLS IN WEST PARIS 1884-1984, by Debbie Burks, 1984, Page 30: 'Frank Monroe O'Brien was born May 16, 1885, in Queen City, Texas. First attending West Texas State Teachers College, he received a B.S. degree from East Texas State Teachers College. He taught in Bowie, Collin, and Delta counties. He served as principal at Klondike in Delta County before coming to Paris. From 1920-30, he served as principal of East Paris School. In the fall of 1930, Mr. O'Brien exchanged schools with Walter DeWeese, principal of West Paris School. Mr. O'Brien remained at West Paris School until 1946. Mr. O'Brien was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He died November 23, 1969.

Page 7: West Paris School, later Rosa Pearson, was originally an independent school district. On June 14, 1887, the Lamar County Commissioners Court established School District 31, known as Wright's Academy. The district was incorporated as West Paris Independent School District on August 3. 1894. Little is known about the early principals as few records exist. In 1902, L. G. Allen was principal; in 1904, J. L. Clark; and in 1908, J. L. Brackeen. R. E. L. Jackson became principal between 1909-11 and remained until 1918. Mr. Jackson was probably the first principal of West Paris School after it became a part of the Paris school system. L. C. Mitchell served as principal of West Paris from 1918-24 when he was followed by L. Walter DeWeese. In the fall of 1930, Frank M. O'Brien, who had been principal of East Paris for ten years, exchanged schools with Mr. DeWeese. Mr. O'Brien remained as principal of West Paris School until 1946. At that time, Dee Cunningham became principal.'
