Mr. Stoner received the stroke which proved fatal upon his 78th birthday.
He was preparing to come downtown when his wife noticed that he sank back in a chair while putting on his overcoat. He was unable to speak and remained in an unconscious condition until the end.
Mr. Stoner was born in Madison county, Kentucky. He moved to Illinois and lived in Piatt county for 30 years.
Three years ago he moved to Lake Charles.
His funeral takes place tomorrow from his late residence, 737 Pujo street, interment will be at Orange Grove cemetery.
He is survived by his wife and children; Mrs. V. Hawthorne of LaPlace, Illinois, Miss Georgia and Robert Stoner of Lake Charles.
