Funeral Services Friday
For Miss Catherine Beatty
_______________
Funeral services for Miss Catherine Shrom Beatty, 92, member of a distinguished lineage and a lifelong resident of this city, who died yesterday at her home, 207 North Front Street, will be held Friday morning at 11:30 o'clock at the home. The Rev. Dr. Robert Bagnell, former pastor of the Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be private. Friends are asked to omit flowers.
Miss Beatty, a sister of the late Mrs. Beverly Roberts Waugh, Mrs. William H. Egle and Henry Beatty, was the daughter of the late George and Catherine Shrom Beatty and was descended from James Beatty, born in Ayrshire, Scotland, in 1670, later moving to the north of Ireland.
In 1784, her grandfather, William Beatty, a native of Hillsborough County Down, Ireland, came to this country and established his residence at the John Harris Mansion. Much of the property owned by him at that time still remains in possession of the family.
Miss Beatty was a member of Grace Methodist Church since childhood and has resided in the North Front Street residence since 1861, the year her parents moved there. She is survived by a brother, George Irwin Beatty, with whom she resided; two nieces, Mrs. Robert J. Holmes and Miss Catherine Irwin Egle, of Washington; a grand-niece, Mrs. John E. Fox, this city and a grand-nephew, Dr. Beverly Waugh Kunkel, of Easton.
