Many Pay Tribute To Memory Of Mrs. Elizabeth Miller
Many relatives and friends were assembled here Wednesday to pay their final earthly tribute to the memory of Mrs. Elizabeth Miller, whose funeral was held that afternoon followed by interment in the City Cemetery.
The remains, accompanied by members of the family, arrived from Seguin Wednesday morning and were escorted to the residence of her son, Herbert Miller where funeral services were conducted at 4:30 p.m. Rev. F. Bohmfalk had charge of the services assisted by Dr. O.L. Smith, pastor of the First Baptist church, of which her son is a member.
The impressive services at the home were in English and Dr. O L. Smith conducted this service, which included a message of divine comfort to bereaved loved ones and a tribute to the memory of a beloved Christian wife and mother as well.
Several of the old time favorite hymns were rendered by the choir.
On arrival at the cemetery Rev. F. Bohmfalk, an old friend of the family, conducted an impressive service in German. He paid Mrs. Miller warm tribute in the talk made during the service and spoke words of tender comfort supplementing the divine lessons found in the scripture. The prayers and hymns, also rendered in German, constituted another source of sweet consolation.
A number of lovely floral tributes made fair her last resting place, among them several beautiful special offerings including one from the family. They betokened the love and esteem in which she was held, and conveyed a fragrant massage of sympathy to the loved ones who mourn her passing.
The acting pall bearers included F. J. Lang, G. W. Wade, J. F. Wood, Frank Wilson and Jake Michelson.
All of her sons and daughters live at a distance as well as numerous other relatives came to Gonzales for the funeral, as well as friends from over this section.
"The fragrant flowers bloom,
And joys supreme are given;
Beyond the confines of the tomb
Appears the dawn of Heaven."
