British Peer. Born George Charles Bingham in Marylebone, London, the son of Charles George Bingham, 4th Earl of Lucan and Lady Cecilia Catherine Gordon-Lennox. Educated at Harrow and Sandhurst, he was commissioned in the Rifle Brigade in 1881. He married Violet Sylvia Blanche Clay in November 1896 and with her had four children. He retired from the Rifles that same year at the rank of Captain. In 1900 he joined the 1st London Rifle Volunteers as a Major. He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the service of the 5th Battalion, London Regiment. He sat as a Member of Parliament for Chertsey in Surrey from 1904 to 1906. He succeeded to the title of 5th Earl of Lucan in June 1914. He served as a Lord-in-Waiting in the House of Lords from 1920 to 1924 and from 1924 to 1929 and again from 1931 to 1940. He was created 1st Baron Bingham in June 1934.
