J.B. Rightmer Killed In Action December 22
Wife Receives Tragic Notice Thursday
Tragic news was received this morning of the death of Sgt. John B. Rightmer, who was killed in action December 22.
Sgt. Rightmer was born on July 22, 1908 in Flatoina, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Rightmer, now of Smithville, Texas. He graduated from Flatonio High School and was farming before going into the service of his country. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Entering the service on November 18, 1940, he left Gonzales and was with the 36th Division stationed in North Africa. He was wounded at Salerno on September 9, 1943.
His wife, Mrs. Margaret Rightmer and two sons, J.W. and Martin lived here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Ray
He has two brothers in the services, Sgt. Bill Rightmer and Pfc. Johnnie Rightmer. Another brother, W.C. Rightmer lives in San Antonio and one sister, Mrs. C.S. Swenia lives in Flatonia, and Miss Connie Rightmer lives in Smithville.

Rightman Reburial Sunday Afternoon
Sgt. John B. Rightman, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rightman of Smithville, who lost his life in fighting near Naples on December 23, 1943, is to be reburied Sunday following rites at the Seydler Chapel.
His body will arrive Saturday afternoon and services will take place at 4 o'clock the following afternoon.
Rightman was a member of Co. K. in the 141st Infantry, 36th Division. He was married to the former Margaret Ray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. Ray and is survived by his widow and two children.
