OBITUARY-
William Rocques, second oldest member of the Volunteer Firemen of New Orleans, died about 2:30 p.m. Monday at his residence, 1624 Desire. He was 91.Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the funeral home of Jacob Schoen and Son, 527 Elysian Fields and interment will be in Greenwood cemetery.A blacksmith by trade, Mr. Rocques operated a shop for many years at Marigny and Burgundy and was the last of the city's "horse" blacksmiths. He did practically all the work for the city's few remaining fire and police horses until his retirement in 1928, at the age of 67.Mr. Rocques was a native of this city although his parents came from France. He was a former member of the board of directors of the Fireman's Charitable and Benevolent Association. From New Orleans Newspaper
