Evelyn L. Burd Kepple, 95, of Yorktown, Va., passed away peacefully Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Kepple was formerly from the Freeport area. Evelyn was born June 1, 1916, in Washington, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Katherine and Louis Fattman. Evelyn was the widow of her first husband, Robert J. Burd who passed in 1987. She was also preceded by her second husband, George Kepple, who passed away just last year. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport and had been very involved her church when she lived in the area. Evelyn enjoyed playing cards, bowling and loved to swim. She is survived by her four children, Shirley Scheitle, whom she lived with, of Yorktown, Va., Gerald Burd, of Baton Rouge, La., Betty (Lonnie) Brooks, of Latta, S.C., and Randy (Phyllis) Burd, of Pink Hill, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two grandsons, Brian and Nicholas Burd; a son-in-law, William R. Scheitle, who passed earlier this year; and 10 siblings. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Freeport, with the Rev. James Higgins officiating. Burial will be held in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
