Hilah June Ussary left this life peacefully at her home in Agency, at 90 years and 10 ½ months on Saturday morning, May 5, 2012.
Hilah was born on June 20, 1921, in Agency, to Harry and Ella (Cline) Thomson. Hilah and her twin, Helen June, graduated from Agency High School, class of 1939. She was a life long member of the Agency Christian church and taught the preschool Sunday School Class for 40 years; and loved the children dearly.
On October 6, 1942, Hilah and Lloyd Jackson Ussary were married in St. Joseph and they shared 51 years of marriage with the passing of Lloyd on January 5, 1994. Hilah worked at Chase Poe Candy Company during WWII, while Lloyd was serving in the Army for three years. She was a member of the Agency Homemaker's Club and assisted her husband in his Land Improvement business.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Stephen Lloyd Ussary; brothers, Charles Thomson and Harry Wayne Thomson; sisters, Aileen Clinton and Helen Settle-Grimes; and brother-in-laws, Doyle Ussary and Robert Clinton.
She is survived by a daughter, Harriet Susanne Moser; son Charles Lee Ussary (Debra); grandchildren, Chad Moser of St. Joseph, Richard Ussary (Alicia), Stephanie Smith, Michael Dixon (Jeanne Marie) of Paola, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Emma, Theodore, Nathan, Katherine, Noah, Samuel, Mary Francis, and Rachel; sister-in-law, Pauline Ussary; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
The family thanks all of Hilah's caretakers who worked to make it possible for Hilah to live out her life at home with special regards to Delpha, Thelma and Darlene and Angels Home Health Care.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the Agency Cemetery.
