He was united in marriage to Violet Urfer in 1941 and together they made their home in Whatcom County. He was inducted in the U.S. Army serving during WWII. They operated the Guide Equipment Company for 52 years, specializing in diesel repairs. Harry was one of the founding fathers of Skagit Speedway. He retired in 1993, moving to "The Weatherby Ranch" in Sedro-Woolley. He enjoyed family, friends, politics and gardening, getting pure joy from sharing their garden bounty with food banks and others. He was a member of North Cascades Christian Fellowship in Sedro-Woolley and an honorary member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bellingham.
