Mrs. Gertie Wood, Dies at Age 79
Knightstown - Mrs. Gertie E. Wood, age 79, a resident of Bicknell, died there Sunday in the home of her sister, Mrs. Harry (Leona) Miller.
Gertie was a native of Rush County, IN.
Survivors include her husband, Dale Wood; son, Olin Cross of Indianapolis; three sisters: Mrs. Harry (Leona) Miller of Bicknell, Mrs. Ira (Flossie) Moore and Mrs. Nellie Jessup, both of Knightstown; and a brother, Wilford Whitaker of Indianapolis.
Services will be conducted Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Butcher Funeral Home in Knightstown by Reverend Alan Brackman. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
*Marriage records show that Gertie Pyne was the daughter of Noah and May Adeline (Peek) Whitaker. She married Leonard Dale Wood on July 1, 1939 in Clay Co., IN.
