A resident of this locality for 73 years, Anton Beckrich died at his home south of here at 4:55 a.m. Monday. He was 83 years old. Death was attributed to a heart ailment with which he had been critically ill three months.
The funeral was held from St. Maary's Church at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning with the Rev. Father McRaith officiating. Internment was in St. Mary's cemetary. Old friends and neighbors of Mr. Beckrich served as pallbearers; they were George Gelhaye, Math Marschall, Thomas McDevitt, Herbert Plekkenpol, Peter Ploumen
and William Realander.
Born in Schockville, Belgium, April 19, 1853 Anton Beckrich came with his parents to America in 1863 and settled on a farm near Shakopee. He grew to manhood in this locality and in 1855 was married to Genevieve Hartert at St. Mark's Church. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Beckrich, Mrs. Anna English, Mary, George, Cecil, Peter, Clara and Ida and Catherine who preceded her father to death. In addition to the children and their mother, Mr. Beckrich is survived by a sister, Maryanne Beckrich of Eagle Creek Township.
A farmer of the old school, Mr Beckrich knew hardship and exhausting work. He was quiet and unassuming and devoted his energies to his life's work. He was favorably known through the countryside and had many devoted friends who with his family deeply regret his passing.
