Marian Utterback, 72, Kokomo, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at her daughter's home in Hebron, Ky., with her husband, sister, daughter and son-in-law by her side.

Marian was born April 24, 1940, in Canton, Ohio, to Don and Clara Bartlett.

She attended Kokomo and Sharpsville schools, graduating in 1958 from Sharpsville High School. After her 1960 marriage to Larry Utterback, Marian attended Indiana State University, graduating in 1967 with a B.S. in elementary education. She received her M.S. in 1974 at Indiana University Kokomo.

She taught elementary school for 16 years in Monticello, and 12 years in Darlington, S.C.

After retiring, Marian and Larry enjoyed traveling in their RV, and spending time with their grandchildren, Lilianna and Nathaniel.

Marian was generous, kind and thoughtful, and anyone who knew her loved her. Her faith and love in the Lord gave her strength throughout her life and through her illness.

Marian is survived by her husband, Larry; her son, Neal Utterback, Bloomington; daughter, Lee Ann and husband Mario James, Hebron, Ky; a sister, Martha, Fort Myers, Fla.; grandchildren, Lilianna and Nathaniel; and several special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her older sister, Shirley Moon, and older brother, John Bartlett.

Committal services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th St., Marion.
