Born October 15, 1936, in Lake Arthur, Louisiana to Rose Lee Davis and Cleveland Joseph Abshire.
He was a resident of the Mid-County area since 1946. Charles will be remembered as an excellent wood craftsman, and enjoyed traveling. He was a devoted grandfather to his granddaughters. Charles was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was employed with the City of Nederland as a water plant manager.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Freddie Abshire of Nederland; son, Charles Dwayne Abshire of Port Arthur; daughter, Renee' Haygood and her husband, Kimuel of Lumberton; granddaughters, Stormie Sammons and her husband, Aaron of Buna and Hannah Haygood of Lumberton; brothers, Allen Abshire and his wife, Laura of Port Arhur and Clifford Abshire of Beaumont; and sister, Vivian Fletcher OF Carthage.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Rose Abshire.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2012, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
