He was the son of Ambrose and Louise (Blake) Coffey.
He married Tabbie Wells on Feb. 4, 1917, in Hamblen County, Tennessee.
He enlisted as a Pvt. in the Quartermaster Corps of the United States Army on June 23, 1918, in Hamblen County, Tennessee. He was discharged from the Army on Feb. 19, 1919, at Camp McClellan, Calhoun County, Alabama.
He died of pulmonary tuberculosis.
