According to family lore Louisa's father, Jasper Newton "Jap" Rimmer, was away from home when she became ill. Her mother, Sarah, called in a local doctor and he administered a medicine that she was evidently allergic to. The medicine caused her to go into convulsions and die. Sarah told the doctor that he best not be around when Jap returned home. It is said the doctor packed up and left the community overnight.
