Tabitha Kate Barngrover was born in 1847 and died May 11, 1903, after attaining the age of womanhood. She was married to a Mr. Martin, to which union was born four children, all of whom died in infancy. After the death of Mr. Martin, she was again united in marriage to Mr. James, who also died leaving her alone. She had been in poor health for a long time and a few weeks ago she was taken to a Chicago hospital for treatment from where she was reported as improving nicely when news was received of her sudden death at that institution.
The remains were brought to Chase for interment in Springdale Cemetery. The funeral services were conducted at the Christian church Friday, the 15th at 2 p.m. by Elder Lyons, pastor at the Christian church at Lyons.
The casket was covered with beautiful floral tributes from loving friends and neighbors.
Her aged mother, two sisters and one brother were in attendance at the funeral. The deceased was a sister of Mr. George Barngrover of this place.
