Henry P. Gardner a life long citizen of Miller County and for a number of years a resident of Iberia, died at his home here early Sunday morning of a lingering illness which finally developed into pneumonia.
Henry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Gardner (deceased) was born January 16, 1870; died March 11, 1933 of pneumonia, being atg the time of his death 63 years, 1 month and 23 days old. He was born and raised in Miller County.
He was married to Clem Aust in 1890 and to this union six children were born, one son preceded him to the great beyond.
He leaves to mourn his death, a wife, Mrs. Clem Gardner; one son and four daughters, George, Edith and Mrs. Queen Crum of Ibeira, Mrs. Will Rogers of Springfield, Ill., four grandchildren, Raymond and Earl Shackleford, Mary Ellen Crum, and Jack Tallman; one sister and five brothers, Mrs. Forest Greene, Felix, Robert and Abe of Iberia, Willie Gardner of Ganite City, Ill., Shay Gardner of Ponca City, Okla.; several nieces and nephews besides a host of other friends.
Henry was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed in the home and in the community. He was a devoted Christian. He united with the North Christian Church in his early life.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Chas. M. Sooter, were held in the Iberia Nazarene Church, Sunday afternoon, after which the body was laid to rest in the Iberia Cemetery under the directionof Adams & Casey, local funeral directors.
