Belmont Chronicle, Saint Clairsville, Ohio
Thursday, March 24, 1887, page 3.
"A dispatch to Judge C.W. Carroll on Saturday, announced the death, after two weeks illness from diabetes, at Auburn, N.Y. at ten o'clock on that day, of Mr. Charles Baker, well known in this place. Deceased was the son of the late James Baker, formerly of Wheeling, and later of Philadelphia. In his early life he spent much of his time visiting the family of Judge Ruggles, whose daughter was his stepmother, and later Mr. Baker and his family resided here for several years, removing to Auburn in the Spring of 1883. Deceased was possessed of many admirable traits of character - among them that of being especially thoughtful of sick neighbors and friends, and was ever ministering to their comfort. He was a pleasant companion, whose death is lamented by a wide circle of acquaintances. A devoted wife and two sons are bereft by his death. His funeral took place on Tuesday; interment at Philadelphia."
Descendant of early PA immigrant Joseph Baker, who married Martha Woodward and of Joseph Collett Pennock - Pennocks of Primitive Hall, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
