Alma Burris Morris, 90, of Russellville, formerly of Dover, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Russellville Nursing & Rehabilitation in Russellville.

The daughter of Oscar and Delia Miller, she was born August 16, 1921 in Dover.

Alma was a correspondent for the Atkins Chronicle and was active in the community and politics. She was a charter member of the Phoenix Free Will Baptist Church where she clerked for many years and also managed the cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Odus Burris of 40 years and James Morris of nine years; her son, Odus, Jr.; her parents; her sister, Bernice Ketcherside; and two brothers, Bill Miller and Herbert Wayne Miller.

Survivors include five sisters, Reba Hunter of Sperry, OK, Pauline Underwood and husband Herbert of Dardanelle, Allene Shockley of Mt. George, Juanita Hendrix of Dover and Wilma Dean Hurst of Mt. George; one brother, James A. Miller and wife Rena of Mt. George; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Humphrey Chapel in Russellville. Rev Terry Duvall, Rev Freddy Goates, Rev Bobby Alexander and Rev. Bud Walker will officiate. Burial will be at Phoenix Cemetery in Dover by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
