"E. H. Beall, 54, Dies; Was Ill Three Years – Death Sudden, Shortly Before Noon Today – Lifetime Alton Resident. Edmund H. Beall, age 54, died at 11:50 o'clock today at his residence, 407 East Twelfth street, after a long illness. His illness began with a coronary thrombosis which disabled him for a time. Mr. Beall was the son of the late Senator and Mrs. Edmund (sic) Beall. Mr. Beall, who was four times mayor of Alton, died Jan. 31, 1920, and Mrs. Beall died April 11, 1925. Born in Alton, August 5, 1883, Ed. Beall spent his whole of his life here. He was a graduate of the Alton High School and attended the University of Illinois for two years, giving up his college work to become connected with the first of Beall Bros., then an important Alton industry, manufacturing mining tools and dealing in accessories of mining.

Mr. Beall was married Feb. 17, 1909 to Nell Lane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Lane of Alton. Besides his wife he leaves two children, Edmund H., Jr., of Alton, and Mrs. Helen Venardos of Bloomington. Besides his wife and two children, Mr. Beall leaves two brothers, E. Wesley Beall, and Roy Beall, both of Alton, and one sister, Mrs. Hattie Gill of St, Louis. The funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock, and services will be held at the family home on Twelfth street."
