Letha Jane Martin, 90, died May, 6, 2012, in Pomeroy. She was born Oct. 21, 1921, to Hazel Patterson and Howard Wolfe. She graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1940 before marrying Don in 1946 in Dayton, Wash. Don passed away in 2001.

Letha and Don opened Martin's Market from 1948 to 1955, and brother Norm helped them open People's Market in 1964. They ran their new store, called Martin's Super Duper, until 1980, when both Don and Letha retired. After that, they traveled with the Good Sams Club and enjoyed spending time at their mountain cabin. Letha loved to spend time at the lake, where she would fish and spend time with her grandchildren and family. She also loved Pomeroy women's golf, bowling, playing cards, dancing, the Cub Scouts and camp fires.

She is survived by her son, Richard Martin, and two daughters, Jeani Parker and Linda Sharp, along with six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her sisters, Wilma Sleeman, Marie Healey, Rae Polumsky, Phyllis Wolfe (twin), and her brother, Herschel Wolfe.


Services will be conducted at Merchant Funeral Home in Clarkston. Memorial donations are being accepted at Hugs of Pomeroy and the Shriners.
