Born to James and Catherine Clapp Wilkinson, Abner married Catherine Ann Monnett February 15, 1851 in Putnam county, Indiana. She was the daughter of Lawson and Jane Collings Monnet. He served 3 months in 1862 in the Layman's Co., 55th Indiana Infantry during the Civil War. Abner was the father of four children: Georgia Ann, Josephine, Abner Orlando (died as infant), and Landa Abner. His wife and son Landy passed away in Los Angeles, CA.
