Alberta married Oscar Joy Sindlinger, people called him Jerry or Jay. She married him at a noon-day ceremony on June 30, 1939 by Rev. L.L. Loehr at the German Reformed Church (now called Zion United Church of Christ) in Poland, Indiana. Three children were born to this union, Steve, Janet, and Deborah.
Before Alberta was married she had went to Indiana State to become a teacher. She taught school in Cunot.
Alberta and Jerry first set up housekeeping in Booneville, IN., Jerry worked in the coal mines there. Alberta made lifelong friends there, then they moved to Clinton, IN. She made more friends. They needed teachers at Central Elementary School, so Alberta started teaching again.
Jerry and Alberta moved to Brazil, Indiana and taught in the elementary school.
Then they moved to Plainfield, IN. and after a couple of years she started teaching again at East Grade School and then Central Elementary. She was a dedicated teacher and eventually she retired.
I took this for a paper on Alberta that her niece Sharon had written about her. Sharon is a cousin of mine and a very good friend. Alberta was a relative of mine too, I feel very honored to be related to this family.
