Abel was born March 8, 2012, in Marion, to Abel Barrios Sr. and Melissa Dawn Culwell,and they survive.
In addition to his parents, Abel is survived by his sisters, Emily Barrios of Simpson and Grace Barrios of California; his maternal grandparents, Wilma K. Dixon of Simpson and Charles Culwell of New Columbia; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Andrea Barrios of California; maternal great-grandparents, David and Sandra Barefield of Simpson and Donna Culwell of Corona, Calif.; and by several aunts and uncles including Cassandra Wilson, John Culwell Jr., Amanda Culwell, Matthew Culwell, Oscar Barrios, Gregorio Barrios, Francis Barrios, Carlos Barrios, Rosa Barrios, Nancy Barrios and Laura Barrios; and by many cousins.
Abel was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Charles Culwell; and by two aunts, Lorena Barrios and Justina Culwell.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, in the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, with Father Thomas Barrett and Pastor David Faulkner officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Memorials may be made to The New Melleray Abbey c/o The Trappist Monks, 16632 Monastery Road, Peosta, Iowa 52068. The Trappist Monks have kindly donated a casket in Abel's memory.
