Mr. William Lavon Atkins, age 75 of Vernon, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Ruston Nursing and Rehabilaitation Center following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Atkins was a native of Ansley, Louisiana and was a retired welder.
Friends may visit with the family 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Vernon Baptist Church in Vernon. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday at the church with Reverend Jim Manning officiating. Interment will be in New Prospect Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife Mary Patricia Atkins; sons, Preston Lavon Atkins and wife Pat, Ronald Reagan Atkins and wife Monica, Elliot Atkins and wife Quintana; a host of neices, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Atkins was preceded in death by his parents, William Hardy Atkins and Barbara Melvinia (Edmiston) Atkins.
Pallbearers will be: Tyler Atkins, David Johnston, Justin Atkins, Jerred Atkins, Mark Salzwedel and Parker Atkins.
