Marian L. Longhurst 87, of Iona, died May 5, 2012, at Good Samaritan Nursing Society Idaho Falls Village. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

She was born March 2, 1925 in Basalt, Idaho to Joseph and Edna Wadsworth. She was raised in Coltman and Iona. She moved to Iona when she was 9 years old and met her lifetime friends. She graduated from Iona High School in 1943.

She married her best friend and the love of her life Ernest Glen Longhurst November 22, 1943 in Dillon, Montana. Glen got drafted into the US Navy in 1944 and Marian and their daughter Glenda followed him to San Diego. They returned to Iona after the war and lived their entire married life there.

She worked at Stoddard Ford in Idaho Falls for several years. She had an airmail contract for the US Postal Service. In October 1984 they opened Ernie's Café on Main Street in Iona where they worked side by side for over 20 years until they retired.

Marian was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Marian enjoyed her time at the family cabin in Palisades, horseback riding, snowmobiling, and entertaining family and friends. She was a beautiful seamstress, and an immaculate house cleaner.

Marian is survived by her daughters; Glenda Hinckley of Idaho Falls; Jeralyn Messenger (Gary) of Coltman; Mariellen Drollinger (Terry) of Iona;
CoyLou Stephens of Iona; LeAnn Butikofer of Ucon; Brother, Lyle Wadsworth of Rexburg; Sister, Viola Denning of Ucon; Sister, Helen Guercio of Winnemucca, Nevada 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glen, and a son Thomas Glen, her parents, her brothers, Willard, Durrant Ervan, and sister Jean.

Funeral Services will be at 11a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls with Bishop Byard Cox officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 and one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
