Services for Mrs. Jennie Merchant, 78, 931 Bluebonnet Drive of Olney were conducted form the First Christian Church of Newcastle. Rev. J. Carl Wright, pastor of the Megargel Baptist Church officiated.
Mrs. Merchant died of cancer. She had been ill for about a year.
Mrs. Merchant married W.M. Merchant in 1910 at Gordon, Texas.
She lived at Newcastle for 28 years before moving to Olney last year. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survived by one son - O.J. Thompson of Borger; two daughters - Mrs. Bertha Barrett of Olney and Mrs. Bertie Isbell of Childress; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers - H.L. Anderson of Stephenville and Bob Anderson of Newcastle.
