Miller died Sunday (Jan. 3, 1983) in Highland House Nursing Center. The service has been postponed until his daughter can be here. Her arrival is delayed by the critical illness of her husband.
Born in Grants Pass Feb. 23, 1904, Miller lived here all his life, with the exception of a few years in Klamath Falls and Ashland.
He was employed by Pacific Northwest Bell 42 years, retiring as general manager of the Grants Pass office in 1966.
He was a member and past master of Grants Pass Masonic Lodge 84, AF&AM, Reames Chapter 28 Royal Arch Masons and Melita Commandery 8 Knights Templar. He had belonged to Hillah Shrine Temple 45 years, and was associate guardian of Job's Daughters Bethels 13 and 71 for a total of 20 years, and was associate grand guardian of Job's Daughters of the State of Oregon in 1966-67. He was chief bighorn of the Oregon Cavemen in 1941, and attended services at Newman United Methodist Church.
On April 17m 1938, in Grants Pass, he married the former Lucile Shepard, who survives. Also surviving are daughter Deanna Orthmeyer of Poway, Calif. and four grandchildren.
It was his wishes that his ashes be scattered on King Mountain.
