Alice N. Dowland, 82, of Harrison, passed away on October 25, 1987 at the Clare Community Hospital. Alice was born on March 3, 1905 in St. Louis, MI, the daughter of Gale and Pearl(Caldwell) Brooks.
Mrs. Dowland had resided in Harrison since 1967, moving from Eaton Rapids, She was a member of the United Brethren Church in Harrison and was an enthusiastic handcrafter, entering her creations in county fairs.
The former Alice N. Brooks was united in marriage, to Earl Dowland on April 30, 1927 in St. Louis, MI. Mr. Dowland preceded her in death on September 18 1975.
Surviving are two sons, Earl Jr, and wife Marilyn of Draper Utah and Lynford of Harrison; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marjorie) Anthony of Lennson, Mrs. M. James (Earlene) Hemmes of Mt. Morris and Mrs. Sherman (Judy) Byrd of Lansing; a brother, Gale Brooks of Southgate; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Basinger of Mississippi and Mrs. Doris Finch of Florida; 24 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 28, 1987 at 1 pm from the United Brethren Church in Harrison with, the Rev. Lee Palmer officiating. Interment was in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Clare.
