Deceased was born in Bourbon county, Kentucky, September 25, 1870, and removed with her parents to this county in the autumn of '74; at which time the county was in a state of comparative wildness - the settlers being compelled to live in a stockade on account of the hostility of the Indians. Deceased was married at the age of 14 years to J D Montgomery, of Jackson county, Mo, and soon afterward moved to Blue Springs, Mo, where she has since resided, being on a visit to her mother at the time of her death. She had a host of friends in this county who esteemed her highly on account of her many virtues and gentleness, and to whom the news of her death came as sad tidings. The funeral exercises were conducted by Elder Nation, of the Christian church, after which she was interred in the family burying ground, at her old home, being followed to the grave by a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. She leaves a husband and two little girls to mourn her loss. "Asleep in Jesus."
