Velma Olive Alford an Arkansas native, died Aug. 4, 1996, at her Portland home of causes related to scleroderma or hardened-skin disease, at age. She was 82. A viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 1996 in Ross Hollywood Chapel. in Portland. No service will be held.
Mrs. Alford was born Feb. 13, 1914, in Pocahontas, Ark. Her maiden name was Moskop. She moved to Eugene, Ore., where she met and married her husband, Clell L. Alford on July 7, in 1935. They couple moved to Portland in 1939.
Mrs. Alford worked was a bookkeeper for Pendleton Woolen Mills for about eight years and She also was a cashier for Charles F. Berg for three years. She retired in the 1960's.
Her husband died in 1991.
Survivors include her two sisters, Pairlee "Billie" Courtright of Springfield and Ellen Tinker of Klamath Falls.
Private mausoleum entombment interment will take be in Portland Memorial Mausoleum.
