Raymond Dale Berry, 53, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Bladensburg, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, unexpectedly, following a long and courageous battle with kidney failure.

Dale was born Jan. 10, 1954, in Newark and had spent all of his lifetime in Knox County. He was a 1972 graduate of East Knox High School where he served as class president. He retired in 1996, due to his kidney failure, from the Oxford Oil Co. of Zanesville after 19 years of faithful service. Dale loved life and lived each day to its fullest. He had been active as a 4-H advisor, as a supporter of the East Knox FFA and Band Boosters. He had served the Bladensburg Youth League as a coach for both baseball and fast pitch softball. Dale had become a model train enthusiast, along side his granddaughter, the light of his life. Dale was recognized as a power seller and buyer on eBay with this new interest. Dale never knew a stranger throughout his life. Each smile brought a ray of sunshine to those who knew him.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 33 years, Betsy (Veatch) Berry; his children, Brandy (Larry Chiu) Berry and Stacy Berry, both of Columbus, and Jeremy (Amanda Pealer) Berry of Mount Vernon; his granddaughter, Sophie Rose Berry; his father, Donivan Rine of Bladensburg; his sisters, Kathy (Jerry) Frost of Howard and Donna (Bernard) Presley of Mount Vernon; his brother, Rusty (Sheri) Rine of Gambier; his sisters-in-law, Mary (Jon) Willard and Sharon (Lance) Jenkins, both of Mansfield, and Jan Hiles of Utica; his brother-in-law, Tom (Fumie) Veatch of Painesville; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and dear friends.
