Ted W. Baehni, 84, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, May 03, 2012. Ted was born January 6, 1928, in Holton, Kansas, son of Paul and Martha (Wegman) Baehni.

He graduated from Holton High School and attended Northwestern University Traffic Institute, Chicago, IL. Ted served in the US Navy, and was honorably discharged in 1948.

He was united in marriage to Lucille Reuter on September 2, 1951, at St. John s Lutheran Church, Alma, KS.

Ted retired as Traffic Major after 30 years of service for the Topeka Police Department. He was a member at First Lutheran Church, Topeka, Holton Masonic Lodge #42 A.F. & A.M. & Wakarusa Masonic Lodge #402 A.F. & A.M., Topeka Fraternal Order of Police, Topeka V.F.W. Post 1650.

Ted is survived by his wife, Lucille, Topeka; daughters, LeAnne Baehni (Larry) Schultz, Topeka; Sally Baehni (Henrik Andersen), Kansas City, MO; Lucy Camille (Shannon) Engler, Lincoln, NE; and Mary Jane (David) Barnes, Allen, TX; sister, Donna Revell, Rossville; grandchildren, Katelyn Engler, Zachary Engler, Elizabeth Barnes, Caroline Barnes, and James Barnes; nieces, Phyllis (Bill)Kilts, Lois Kocher, and Kathy (Bob) Steiner; nephews, Kenneth (Mary) Kocher, Harold Kocher, and Jim (Jeanette) Kocher; and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Verna Kocher and Ruby Reed.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, at First Lutheran Church, Topeka. Interment will follow at Topeka Cemetery, Topeka. Mr. Baehni will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6th, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, where the family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. Sunday. Masonic services will be conducted by Holton Masonic Lodge #42 A.F. & A.M. and Wakarusa Masonic Lodge #402 A.F. & A.M. at 6:00 p.m. Sunday.
