Rose worked as nurse in Omaha, Nebraska. Rose and Glen Hall Hemphill married August 23, 1930, at Brainerd, MN. After they were married Glen worked on the mail route and also in the woods.

They had three children together: Emory Fredrick Hemphill (Born June 2, 1932), Delores Rose Hemphill (Born May 22, 1937) and Doreen June Hemphill (Born March 3, 1940). In 1943 the 6 of them moved West.

In 1950, Glen and Rose did divorce but remained good friends over the years. Rose and the children moved to Portland where she ran a room and boarding house for parents and children of broken homes. Some of these homes were huge. One place had eleven bedrooms and three fireplaces. Her rooms were always full. Rose was an old fashioned German cook and everyone loved her. There were usually 15 to 25 adults and children at the table for meals.

Rose had arthritis very bad and her health finally broke. In 19776 she moved back to Medford, Oregon where she passed away April 13, 1980, after gall bladder surgery. She was almost 80 years old. Glen passed away May 7th, 1985. he was 91 years old and died of bone cancer. they are buried at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Medford Oregon.
