Ruth Emmons, 68, formerly of Iowa City, died Monday in Olympia, Wash., where she was visiting her son.

Graveside rites will be held at Memory Gardens at 3 p.m. Friday. Friends may call at Beckman-Bitherus Funeral Home beginning 9 a.m. Friday.

Mrs. Emmons was born Feb. 28, 1905 in Ackworth, Iowa, to William and Jane Clarkson Moffitt. She grew up in Ackworth, and graduated in social work from the University of Iowa.

She was married to Harold L. Emmons, who died in 1947. She worked in Iowa and in the state of Washington before retiring to Apache Junction, Ariz. She was a member of Friends Church.

Surviving are two sons, Wilford of Olympia, Wash., and Wayne of Redlands, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia Bosse of Mukilteo, Wash.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Abel Moffitt of Indianola, and five sisters, Florence Bedl and Olive Idso, both of Apache Junction, Ariz.; Emma Mott of Indianola; Ellen Tjossem of Paullina, and Margaret Ellen of Iowa City.
