Agnes A. Bastyr, 92, of Belle Plaine, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center in Shakopee.

Agnes was born July 22, 1919, in Cedar Lake Township, Scott County, a daughter of Mathias "Mike" and Mary "Mayme" (Sirek) Valek. A lifelong resident of Cedar Lake Township, she attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and New Prague High School. Agnes married Edward F. Bastyr on September 21, 1937, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, and she was a homemaker in her own home. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking.

She is survived by seven children Margaret Bartusek, Veseli, Edward (Mary Alice) Bastyr, Prior Lake, Gerald (Shirley) Bastyr, Jordan, Karen (Jerome) Zweber, Beaverton, OR, Edith (Glenn) Svoboda, Prior Lake, Gloria (Leo) Jacques, Jordan, and Ronald Bastyr, Jordan; 38 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 4, 1991; daughter-in-law Marlene Bastyr; son-in-law Richard Bartusek; grandson John Jacques; granddaughter Ann Mary Jacques in infancy; her parents; two sisters Helen Simek and Marjorie Valek in infancy; a great-grandson Zachary Bastyr; great-granddaughter Tierny Bastyr; and great-great-grandson Jeff Bastyr.

Private services were held Wednesday, May 2, at 10 a.m., at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, with Rev. George Grafsky officiating.

Interment was at St. Patrick Cemetery in Cedar Lake Township. Pallbearers were James Bartusek, Edward Bastyr Jr., Jim Bastyr, Jeffrey Svoboda, Michael Jacques and Jacob Bastyr.

Visitation was private.
