Elsie Jane Townsend, 62, of Arapahoe, NE. died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at her home. Elsie was born Feb. 18, 1950, at Omaha, NE. to Richard and Dorothy (Knapp) Jackson.

On Dec. 31, 1966, she married Eugene Townsend in Irvington, NE.

Survivors are: husband; sons, Daniel Townsend and his wife, Penelope, and James Townsend, all of Arapahoe, Gary Townsend and his wife, Heather, of Fairfield, Adam Townsend and his wife, Gretchen, of Wellington, Colo., and Kenneth Townsend and his wife, Nicole, of Elwood; brothers, David Jackson, Frank Jackson and Eugene Jackson, all of Omaha, and Donald Jackson of Harlan, Iowa; sisters, Linda Bestwick and Judy Williamson, both of Omaha; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and special friend, Peg Cozad of Omaha.

Elsie went to Omaha Technical High School where she met Eugene Townsend. Elsie and Gene made their home in Arlington before moving to Elwood in 2000 where they ran The Reverie Café on Elwood Reservoir.

Elsie enjoyed cooking, throwing darts, sewing and spending time with family and friends. Elsie and Gene retired to Arapahoe in 2010.

Elsie was preceded in death by: parents; mother-in-law, Shirley Townsend; brother, Richard Jackson; sister, Maureen Heywood; and brother-in-law, Chuck Heywood.

Burial was in the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, NE.
